Chamber’s 5th. Annual Business Expo a Success
The Goochland County Chamber of Commerce welcomed the community to the “FREE” Business Expo Taste of Goochland held at the Bo Scouts of America Camp located at 1723 Maidens Road on Tuesday, October 13th. from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM. There was plenty of food, entertainment, exhibits, bounce house, alpacas and of course, Sparky! This year FURternity had special guest a costumed dog, which the children loved.
The Chamber would also like to recognize Morgan Stanley Smith Barney as the Expo’s 2009 Gold Sponor. Your support helped us to bring a variety of non-profit organizations that support Goochalnd County.
Attendees listened to “Super 64″ coordinated by Terry Hazelton of White Hawk Music Cafe. Not only was music provided , but a bounce house was available for children, from Bounce 2 the Moon. Goochland’s Fire/Rescue mascot – Sparky was on hand to meet and greet visitors. Have you ever had the opportunity to see an Alpaca up close? Everyone had the chance to actually see and learn about Alpacas from Fireweed Farm Alpacas. The Chamber also gave a way two grand prizes totaling a value of $500.00! Additional vendors gave away numerous prizes throughout the evening.
The Chamber would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to Carter Caterpillar for supplying the power for the Expo. Each year the demand for electricity grows and we were able to accommodate our vendors with the support from Carter! A special thank you goes out to Gordon Construction for donation electrical services and equipment.
Approximately 55 plus exhibitors were present, which included local coffee shops and food vendors. This year, the Chamber is proud to announce the partnership it had with the Goochland High School’s Varsity Baseball Team, which was on hand serving hotdogs, hamburgers, chips and sodas as a fundraiser for their organization.
An attendee stated, “If was fun and well organized with a variety of vendor to keep your interest.” “I look forward to attending next year. I will definitely recommend this to others.” Another attendee stated, “It was exciting to see business’s from the area that I was not even aware existed.” Further, “I will definitely attend next year especially with the addition of even more exhibitors and food.”
