Honors County’s Volunteers

GOOCHLAND, Va. – The Goochland County Chamber of Commerce recently paid honor to 21 volunteers in the county.  The ceremony was held at a luncheon Nov 15 at Hermitage Country Club.

Those honored included:  Suzanne Mills, Alzheimer’s Association; Meta and Earl Potts, Goochland CASA (court appointed special advocate; Becky Lillywhite, Center for Rural Culture; Gary Cowardin, Field Days of the Past; Joe Wadle, American Legion Post 215; David Blakeney, Pamunkey Regional Library; Cindie Valentine, Goochland Christmas Mother; Howard Henley, Goochland Fire / Rescue; Godfrey Pinn and Gerald Manikus, Goochland Free Clinic &

Family Services; Ginny Olson, Goochland County Historical Society; Pam Schwartz, Habitat for Humanity; Jacqueline Eby, Meals on Wheels; Heather Browder, Goochland County Public Schools; the late Betty Salmons, Goochland Woman’s Club (posthumous recognition); Michelle Whitehurst, James River Master Naturalist; Darrel Mason, Neighbors Food Pantry; Valerie Pace, Relay for Life; Joy Kline, Rotary Club of Goochland; David Holbert, Senior Connections.

“We applaud the fine work of these individuals.  They give unselfishly of their time and talents to help improve the quality of life in our county,” said Paul Miller, the chamber’s president.

The awards and luncheon were made possible from a grant from the County of Goochland, and donations from 623 Landfill / Republic Services, Daniel’s Heating & Refrigeration Corp., Goochland Tees, Libby Clark Photography, and CMG Impression Inc.  The last such ceremony was held in 2009.

 The Goochland County Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit association of  approximately 300 businesses that conduct business in Goochland County.
