 The Chamber would like to recognize Deborah Arrington, who served as a Chamber Board member, for all of her tremendous support and she will be missed. Nadine Rich owner of The FURternity will fulfill the unexpired term of Deborah Arrington. Nadine has already been serving on the Events Committee. Welcome Nadine!!

Two New Board Members

The Goochland County Chamber of Commerce has filled two Board vacancies and welcomed them at their first Board meeting on Wednesday, October 14th at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College. Greg Hicks, Communications Director for Virginia Farm Bureau will be fulfilling Bob Paisley’s term and Brooks Davis, owner/operator of Brooks Davis Lawn and Landscaping, LLC will be fulfilling Bob Neulen’s term. The Chamber welcomes them and looks forward to the diverse expertise they will bring to the Board.

Greg Hicks has served as Communications Director of the 147,000-member Virginia Farm Bureau Federation for the past 22 years. He oversees a staff of 11 which include writers, designers, web GregHicksdevelopers, video producers, event planners, marketing specialists and social media coordinators. Virginia Farm Bureau is one of Goochland County’s largest employers with more than 300 employees located at itsWest Creek headquarters.
Hicks’ department produces two membership magazines, two Websites, a monthly TV program, a monthly employee publication, newsletters for 80 county Farm Bureaus, ad campaigns and a weekly news tips sheet for media. Hicks and his staff also handle media relations and media relations training. They will soon begin the organization’s first video blog. He and his staff have won numerous state and national awards for media relations efforts, Website design, photography, video production and writing.
Prior to Farm Bureau, Hicks worked as a daily newspaper reporter and later as an editor in Petersburg, and as an information officer for the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. He holds a B.S. degree in Mass Communications from Virginia Commonwealth University. Hicks, who grew up in western Henrico, now resides in Manakin-Sabot.

Brooks Davis is the grandson of the late Robert Neulen. He is the owner/operator of Brooks Davis Lawn and Landscaping, LLC and owns an all natural grass-fed beef BrooksDavisfarming operation based in Goochland County. Brooks began his lawn service as a summer business where it took off. He loves challenges and decided that he enjoyed the outdoors and working with his customers. One thing he learned and is always ready to share is be competitive, but price work so that it will be sustainable. Brooks can handle any project including grass cutting, mulching, trimming, French drains and large plant installations. He also provides tractor services such as grading riding rings, driveways and lawns. In the winter he sells firewood. In 2007 they got in the beef business and as he states, “that’s definitely my passion”. They started with 16 Black Angus heifers and have since had two calf crops. This year he started selling grass fed beef free from hormones, chemicals and antibiotics. He is a graduate of Virginia Tech’s agriculture program and in his spare time enjoys hunting and socializing with the community and friends. He is known for his generosity, sense of humor, and kindness. He and his wife reside in Goochland and attend Ragland Memorial Baptist Church where they are leading a financial class open to the church and public. They have been married four years and were high school sweethearts!
